Joanna Galon-Frant

Pianist, chamber musician. A graduate of the piano class of prof. J. Stompel at the Academy of Music in Katowice and post-graduate studies in piano chamber music class of prof. M. Szwajger-Kułakowska and lecturer M. Mosia. A student of the Scuola Superiore Internazionale di Musica da Camera del Trio di Trieste in Italy. Scholarship holder of the Minister of Culture and Art and the Stiftung fuer die Musik in Zurich.

She perfected her skills at many masterclasses, both piano - working with such artists as Kevin Kenner, Paul Badura-Skoda, Rudolf Buchbinder, Erick Heidsick - and chamber music - the duo Brache Eden & Aleksander Tamir, Yair Kless, Christoph Wyneken, Jerzy Marchwiński, Anthony Spiri., Trio Altenberg.

She performed as a soloist with the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra  and the chamber orchestra Aukso, with which she collaborates occasionally, , among others. participation in the projects "Marathon of the works of HM Górecki", "Warsaw Autumn", "Festival of Premieres", Festival "Sacrum - Profanum", "Musica Polonica Nova", "Ars Cameralis", Music Festival in Lancut  or Krakow Film Music Festival.

As a lover of chamber music, she realizes herself mainly in this artistic field. Currently, one of the most important areas of her activity is constant and regular cooperation with the violinist Anna Szabelka and her husband, the cellist Łukasz Frant in the Trio AdAstra ensemble.

In addition, she performs with her husband in the duet "Frant Duo".

She is the winner of the 1st prize at the 43' International L. van Beethoven Chamber Competition in Hradec, Czech Republic in 2004.

In November 2005, in the duo Frant Duo, she became a finalist of the 29' International Chamber Music Competition "Premio Vittorio Gui" in Florence.

In May 2007, the Frant Duo team received the Special Award  for the best band from Central Europe

at the 10' International Chamber Competition "Premio Trio di Trieste" in Italy.

 

For several years,  years has also been working as a pedagogue  at the Academy of Music in Katowice. Currently, he holds the position of Assistant Professor  in the Department of Chamber Music.
